BIOGRAPHY
Courtney Freed is a force. For over twenty years, she has been captivating audiences with a voice that critics have called "effervescent," "breathtaking," and "a whirlwind of excitement." An established jazz vocalist and songwriter based in Portland, she has built a reputation as one of the Pacific Northwest's most dynamic performers, equally at home delivering a sultry standard, belting a Queen anthem, or unveiling an original that cuts straight to the heart.

Her 2022 album Big Crazy Love announced her not just as a singer, but as a songwriter to watch. JW Vibe declared it "the coming out party for an impactful songwriter who effortlessly blends her jazz sensibilities with pop, folk, country and gospel." A new album is currently in the works, featuring fresh originals alongside reimagined covers.

Courtney's repertoire spans the Great American Songbook, swing, bossa nova, and jazz-influenced originals. She performs in a variety of configurations, from intimate voice-and-piano duo to her swinging five-piece band, The Courtney Freed Five. Her theatrical tribute Mercury Rising, a jazz-infused celebration of Freddie Mercury, has played to acclaim at theaters including Artists Repertory Theater, The Jack London Revue, and Oregon Cabaret Theater in Ashland.

No stranger to the stage, Courtney holds a theater degree from Loyola Marymount University with additional training at NYU, and has performed at Portland Center Stage, Broadway Rose, and Lakewood Theater Company. She has graced prestigious venues in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, and throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Whether commanding a jazz club, performing to sold-out crowds, or curating an unforgettable set for a private event, Courtney Freed brings artistry, presence, and a voice that lingers long after the last note.
